BIONA® substrates

(Nutrient additive to pot grounds, synthetic substitute for soil humus)

BIONA contains all nutrient substances plants in a high concentration in innocuous form. In its functions it is similar to that of humus in natural soils. BIONA is allowed for growing food plants. BIONA can be used to grow plants in pure form or in the form of additives to any grounds, soils, or sands. A strong effect is achieved upon the addition of 20-30 g of BIONA to a litre pot. A mixture of 10 g of BIONA with one litre of clean sand is equivalent in fertility to commercial nutrient grounds. The most decorative mixtures are mixtures of BIONA with clean white sand. BIONA contains no pathogenic organisms or pests. After protracted use (for 3-5 years) the fertility of BIONA can be reclaimed (see special instruction).
BIONA is not simply a new fertiliser. It is primarily an artificial soil of full value for growing plants having an enormous fertility potential. It contains all the nutrient elements necessary for plants. They are chemically bound up to a special carrier and may only be extracted from it at the "request" from the plant in exchange for substances given off by its root system. Actually, BIONA is a system of long-term automatic nourishment of plants with all necessary minerals.
BIONA will in no way cause harm to your plants. At growing plants on BIONA alone without any additional fertilisers, you can obtain from 1 kg of BIONA a yield of more than 3 kg of green mass of plants watered with usual tap water. This corresponds to a yield of about 350-400 kg from 1 m2 of a sown area (with of 0.2 m).
BIONA is easy in use. It can be added to the sand or soil in any proportion and watered as usual. You should not add any other fertilisers to BIONA, since this requires special knowledge and can lead to a worsening of the fertility.
The use of small additions of BIONA to normal soils and even sand is very effective. The regularities are very simple: the greater the quantity of BIONA the better the growth of plants. If we take barren sand washed with water and add to it only 1% of BIONA, the plants will grow on this mixture as they would do on nutrient soils that are available on the market. However, to make the advantage of BIONA convincing, we recommend adding somewhat larger quantities: 3-5 volume % of this new additive to the soils you are using. This will quarantee a much better growth than on any other soil or ground even if you add BIONA to clean sand. Addition to sand is more effective, than to the fertilized soil (compare photos at the left and on the right). T he addition to purchased soil of 2 % and 5 % of the substrate BIONA (an middle and right flowerpot, respectively) essentially raises productivity.
In photos results of the experiments which have been carried out in the Lublin Agricultural Academy by professor Shimanskaya and doctor Homchinskaya (Technical university of Lublin) are represented.

1. Growing of ornamental plants indoors
To considerably improve the growth of plants, one overflowing spoonful of BIONA is enough for a litre pot. The effect will be dramatic if you add 3-5 spoonfuls per pot. Soil or sand are mixed with BIONA and poured into a pot. Then the mixture is moistured and plants or grafts are planted. The BIONA can also be placed into a pit in the ground and the seed or graft can be put directly into BIONA substrate. Its direct contact with the plant will provoke faster growth. Plants look very effective on clean washed river or building sand with an addition of BIONA.. A good effect attained by adding BIONA to different peaty soils. However, before using BIONA check the soil for acidity at a laboratory or, in the absence of such a possibility, by planting a small trial quantity of seeds. Packed peat often has an acidic reaction and plants on it may grow poorly or even perish. One should not use acid soil for growing plants.

2. Treatment of indoor plants
By means of BIONA it is easy to improve the condition and growth of indoor plants exhibiting any signs of insufficiency of nutrition, such as a retarding of growth, a change in the colour of leaves, etc. To this end, pour a small layer of BIONA on top of the soil and water as usual..

3. Seedlings
In growing seedlings from seeds, it makes sense to use larger doses of BIONA added to sand or soil, for example, 5-10 spoonfuls per litre of soil. Seedlings can be grown in a shallow cuvette with a layer thickness of about 5 cm. In so doing, on one litre of a mixture one can plant up to 50 seeds of plants. When the plants grow as high as about 5 cm, they should be thinned out in separate vessels together with a ball of soil enriched with BIONA. Afterwards the plants obtained on soils with BIONA will develop faster than the seedlings obtained under normal conditions.

4. . Implantation of grafts
To implant grafts, it is recommended to use washed sand or tested peat with the addition of 3-5 spoonfuls of BIONA per litre.

BIONA corrects salted ground after winter. Ageratum Houstomianum, cultivated (flowerpots from left to right):
